Ouarda is an Indirect Tax Director at Baker Tilly UAE, where she advises different types of organisations across the UAE, GCC and Europe on complex indirect tax matters, including structuring, cross-border transactions, M&A and tax disputes. Her experience spans sectors such as financial services, real estate, pharmaceuticals and e-commerce. In her advisory career, she has led high-profile projects for multinational and government-related clients, including VAT implementation, global supply chain reviews, business restructurings, tax audits, and dispute resolution.
Earlier in her career, she spent over five years at the Ministry of Finance of the Netherlands, where she worked on VAT and Real Estate Transfer Tax legislation at both national and EU levels, including key developments to the EU VAT framework. With her experience in both VAT policy and advisory roles, she provides actionable and practical VAT guidance.
She is also involved in thought leadership and has delivered internal and client trainings, workshops, and publications on VAT developments and regulatory changes.
Role
She leads the Indirect Tax (IDT) function at Baker Tilly under Markus Susilo’s oversight and drives the firm’s e-invoicing initiatives. She advises organisations in the UAE on complex VAT and indirect tax matters, including cross-border structuring, M&A, and business transformations.
She also leads VAT transformation projects and provides hands-on support in audits and dispute resolution, guiding clients confidently through complex, high-stakes issues.
